Siri gets a major upgrade
Siri AI is one of the biggest additions across Apple’s new operating systems. The revamped assistant supports more natural conversations, can find information across your apps and takes on more tasks using your personal context.
A dedicated Siri app also keeps your conversations in one place, letting you start on your iPhone and continue on your iPad.
Apple Intelligence improves the experience of using everyday apps as well. Photos gains new editing tools, while Safari can monitor webpages for changes, including price drops and restocks. Apple also promises improvements to responsiveness and refinements to Liquid Glass.
Keep in mind that installing the latest OS does not automatically give your device every new AI feature. Siri AI requires compatible hardware and begins rolling out in beta in English on September 14, with additional languages following in October.
Get your devices ready for the update
Before installing, back up your device and clear out unused apps or downloaded media if storage is running low. The space required will vary by device and update.
Once iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 arrive, check Settings → General → Software Update. On your Mac, head to System Settings → General → Software Update.
If the update does not appear immediately at the expected time, wait for a few minutes and check again.
