The iPhone 6s has the best camera Apple’s ever made, but have you ever wondered how much better the new camera is than the original iPhone that launched back in 2007?
Lisa Bettany put the iPhone 6s camera through its paces in a new comparison test that pits the new device against the previous eight iPhones. Her images show how far Apple’s smartphone photography game has improved since the original iPhone debuted with its 2-megapixel sensor.
Check out the comparison shot below:
The iPhone 6s really shows off its big improvements with backlit closeup photos and portraits. Bettany says the iPhone 6 suffered from blotchy skin tones, pixelation and decreased sharpness. Apple appears to have fixed the problem by using greater separation in photo diodes to reduce noise and keep coloring more consistent.
The iPhone 6s image looks more vibrant and sharper, with skin tones that look more true to life, says Bettany, comparing the iPhone 6s portrait to the iPhone 6. “The sharpness is apparent around my eye, but I’m still noticing the pixelation problem, especially with the highlights on my cheeks in the tight crop.”
Along with adding a larger 12-megapixel sensor, the iPhone 6s also boasts faster auto-focus, improved color accuracy and better low-light capabilities. To see more comparison images, head over to Bettany’s gallery.

Wow the new camera really produces sharp images, you can clearly see the underage children who produce these phones for 16 cents an hour in China like never before!
As sick as it is these kids make more money than US kids make working at McDonald’s in the US :)
Derp Derp Derp!
Children needs jobs, not toys.
Underage children? What does that mean? They aren’t hiring 12 year olds. They just had a few that were under 18 and probably 16 or 17. BTW, when I was in high school, my parents didn’t give me a big enough allowance and I had my own car, so I got after school/weekend job when I was only 17. so it’s not uncommon to work before you are 18 years old in the US and I was only making minimum wage. Thank God I never had a McJob. I worked in a retail store. At the time i thought it was decent money. But we had gas that only cost $.27 a gal, there were no smartphones, tablets, and other expensive products to distract us. Back then you could buy a meal at McDonalds for $3.00 where now, it costs $9.00. But a full blown computer cost about $3,500 or more, and most people couldn’t afford one or even owned them.
BTW, Foxconn is paying considerably more than 16Cents per hour, so you might want to get your facts straight. I believe they get paid $2.50 or higher and they get paid more for overtime, but their cost of living is far less than it is in the US, so everything is relative.
Get you facts right… spewing discredited falsehoods only makes you look like an idiot.
It would be nice if you could click on each phone so it wouldn’t cycle through so quickly. Plus there is no 6+ and 6S+ versions.
I think that GIF anim has got the images in the opposite order, unless the first iphone had a better camera than the 6 and 6s. Because the first iphone images are a lot more accurate and evenly toned and more detailed. And the iphone 6 and 6s high contrast, bad color definition and over exposed.
