Google is making it easier to switch from iPhone to Android. The company worked with Apple to improve the iOS-to-Android migration experience.

Now, when switching from iPhone to Android, you can transfer your passwords, photos, messages, apps, and home screen layout.

Switching from iPhone to Android will soon get easier

Migration from iPhone to Android or vice versa is always a hassle. You can only transfer your photos, videos, contacts, messages, and limited data.

Google worked with Apple to improve this experience. Going forward, you can wirelessly transfer your passwords, accessibility settings, apps and even home screen layout from an iPhone to an Android device. For added convenience, you can also move your eSIM between the two platforms, making the switch far less frustrating than before.

Google says the improved iOS-to-Android migration experience will roll out later this year. It will initially be available on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices.

Apple laid the groundwork for the improved iOS-to-Android migration experience as part of iOS 26.3. The company will likely unveil an enhanced Android-to-iPhone migration experience with iOS 27 at WWDC next month.

The poor data migration experience is one of the major roadblocks when switching from Android to iPhone. So, it would be great to see Apple and Google work together to improve this.

AirDrop support to expand to more Android devices

Last year, Google did the unthinkable by bringing AirDrop to Android’s Quick Share. The feature initially rolled out to Pixel phones before expanding to flagship Samsung phones. Google now says that it will bring AirDrop support to more devices from companies like Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo and OnePlus.

For incompatible devices, it will add the ability to generate a QR code, which can be scanned on an iPhone to initiate a transfer through cloud.
