Apple on Tuesday rolled out a fresh Final Cut Pro update to eliminate a bug and improve its blade tool pointer. The version 10.5.4 release is free for existing Final Cut Pro owners and available to download now.
The latest Final Cut Pro update comes just weeks after Apple rolled out version 10.5.3 — a rather significant release that added a bunch of new features alongside stability improvements. This one isn’t quite as big.
However, today’s roll out does fix a frustrating location bug that was plaguing some Final Cut Pro users.

The bug inexplicably rendered some of Final Cut Pro’s features unavailable until the user changed their Mac’s region or language settings. That’s no longer necessary under version 10.5.4.
In addition, Apple has revised its pointer for the blade tool. After controversially swapping the old razor blade pointer for scissors, the scissor pointer has now been rotated to make it easier to use.
This update also improves playback for H.264 and HEVC video content, and makes other stability enhancements when exporting files under certain macOS region and language settings.

Final Cut Pro version 10.5.4 is available to download now from the Mac App Store. It’s a free update for existing users, while Final Cut Pro itself is priced at $299.99.
