F. Murray Abraham reportedly won’t be in season 3 of Mythic Quest. The Oscar-winning actor was an important part of the ensemble cast for the first two seasons while playing quirky writer C.W. Longbottom.

Mythic Quest is a gamer-themed workplace comedy. It’s set at a small company making an eponymous massively multiplayer online game. Real-world game developer Ubisoft assisted with its creation
The humor is offbeat, and F. Murray Abraham’s character contributes to that vibe. His character, Nebula Award-winning writer C.W. Longbottom, is one of the chief writers of the game, and he has many slightly disturbing anecdotes from going to science-fiction conventions. And – no spoilers – season two really changed his character.
But he won’t be part of the upcoming third season, according to Vanity Fair.
While Mythic Quest won’t be the same without him, Longbottom is not so important a character that his departure will cripple the show. Surely, Ian (Rob McElhenney) will be able to keep generating plenty of humor, along with Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) and David (David Hornsby).
Apple TV+ has already committed to season 3 of the series. And season four, too. The first two seasons of Mythic Quest are available to binge on Apple’s streaming service.
The Cult of Mac review of the second season (which wrapped up in spring 2021) says, “The creative team that drives the Apple TV+ comedy about game developers found the sweet spots that made the first season above average.” Scout Tafoya went on to say, “I can’t wait for season 3.”
And that third season is expected to premiere sometime during summer 2022.
