Cult of Mac readers are reacting to the news that Steve Jobs has resigned his place as CEO of Apple, Inc. and although he’ll still be around as the Chairman of Apple’s board many of you were just as shocked and surprised about the news just as much as we were at Cult of Mac.
If you haven’t read the comments on the posts about Steve Jobs you should since some of them are very interesting. I’d like to call your attention to a few of them written by readers after they read my post about Jobs resigning as Apple’s CEO and COO Tim Cook named as his replacement.
So now I’ll step away from the podium and let you see what some of Cult of Mac’s readers had to say about yesterday’s announcement.

I’ve always knew this day would come. In Mr. jobs, there’s a unique triumvirate: a business man, a man with a sense of style, and – as the founder of Apple, the love of a father.
This is not something any ONE person can embody in this lifetime.
I want to thank Mr. Jobs, for all the fun, cool products Apple’s given birth to – his children. The world is such an insanely greater place thanks to his vision, his…love.
I wish him, his family all the best wishes – and I speak for a lot of us.
I know Mr Jobs left Apple with people he’s trusted, nurtured, and believes have the abilities needed to continue Apple into the future.
I’ve owned Macs, iPads since ’86. NOTHING has ever made work more enjoyable, and made having fun, listening to a tune, and… just enjoying technology as pleasurable as these products I’ve got from Apple.
Please don’t be a stranger, Steve! From me, and many, MANY others, THANKS for the memories, the dreams.

A sad day…….

Steve Jobs resigned. I’m truly saddened, but what else could can you ask from a man. This guy is the Michael Jordan of business/tech. He built a company, saw it get destroyed, came back 3 months before bankruptcy and built it back up, piece by piece until eventually became Apple the most valuable company in the planet. In my book he did his job. There will be no one else like him. No one will be able to replicate his success and vision. Long live Steve!

Gotta say.. Steve has changed my life in many ways. Thanks buddy!

For me it’s the end of an era. Steve Jobs has been one of my heroes ever since I bought my first “fat Mac” in 1985. . . the true innovator in the technology world.

I can’t think of a more epic tale in American business than that of Steve Jobs and Apple. He’s redefined an entire industry for the better; all while architecting what is undoubtedly the most dramatic turnaround most of us will ever witness. The stuff of legend.
Mr. Jobs has certainly changed my life and, for that, my most humble appreciation and awe.

Just… Thank you Steve

I say the following with humility: Steve Jobs opened the door to my discovering that I may just have an artistic eye. My ability to translate what my eye, then the camera lens captures, to a finished product, thanks to Apple computer is the life-long debt I will always owe to Steve Job’s vision; he made my ambition reality.
Thanks, Steve.

Probably the last true Genius in the full sense of the word.

I bought my first Mac in 1989 (an SE/30) and immediately started using it in my graphic design company. The Mac, iPod, iPhone, iPad and Steve Jobs have changed the course of human history. As many others have said, Steve has been a hero of mine for over 2 decades. His accomplishments are staggering.
I wish you all the best Steve. Tim Cook is a great replacement. As long as Apple remains true to your vision, continues to do the right thing for its customers, and continues on the path of astounding innovation, it will continue to delight millions more of us around the world. Thank goodness you and Steve Wozniak came along to start the computer revolution, and you and your amazing staff created an alternative to MS DOS and Windows. The world would be a much sadder and awful place without your creations.

Because of Steve and Woz and the introduction of the MAC Plus into the printing world, I am now an art director 20+_ years later…. if it was NOT for these two men… I would have ended up working in a factory as my dad predicted! Thank you gentlemen!
I LOVE STEVE JOBS!
Can I be the first to congratulate Mr. Jobs on his new position as Apple’s new Chairman of the Board? I for one can’t wait to see what else this visionary has planned for us. I hope he can truly enjoy this new chapter in his life.

dick.
You have to put him in a category with Michael Jordan, there will be cats that will resemble him, LeBron and Kobe, but those dudes are just not Mike. Same thing that applies to Steve, while I am very happy with his replacement because Steve tried toclone himself with Tim, their just won’t be another Steve Jobs, youcan’t replace that. That man was a tremendous factor in the refacingof several industries. The music industry with iTunes and the iPod,the movie industry with iTunes and Pixar (he completely changed and empowered Disney with that!), NExT Computer and NExTSTEP, mobile industry with the iPhone, being the first company to incorporate new technologies like Unibody design, 802.11, FireWire, USB, Optical Media, HD displays on computers, the Retina Display, WebKit, laser traction on mouses, Multi-Touch, I mean, even the creation of the Personal Computer and the introduction of GUI, the list goes on and on. And coupling this with his deep passion for art and design really set the standard on what a quality computer product should look like. I mean Steve even affected the Retail industry with the Apple Store, which was just declared by Standard & Poor’s as the most successful and powerful retail force in existence. His vision for the company he founded is just…it’s unmatched. There is no one like him. The same company that fired him in the 80s he came back ten years later and look at the stock. It speaks for itself. Apple’s stock since the “Return of Steve” is up by almost 10,000%, that’s just incredible. The man is a trendsetter, visionary, perfectionist, opportunist, optimistic. One of the few companies to change the lives of people and beat their competition in the process. I mean the CEOs of Samsung and HTC are on CNBC right now and they are saying the same thing “Apple is very hard to complete with. Thats just the fact” There won’t be another like him. But I am happy with his replacement and I don’t think that anything is going to change with the step-down. But you have to remember that Steve did not work alone. He had a group of talented people to work with him. Scott Forstall on the Mac OS and iOS front, Craig Federighi on Mac OS, Jony Ive on product design, Bobby Mansfield on the hardware front, Marketing with Phil Schiller, and then molding Tim Cook, Nothing is going to change at Apple. The pipeline is set for the next five years so nothing is going to change.
Steve Jobs…Godspeed…and thank you for your work. It is truly and greatly appreciated. Enjoy this new chapter in your life. Salute [-_-]>
In 1986 I was given a project to create electronic versions of 32 handwritten 6 month budgets for the LL Bean Distribution Center. They let me use a Mac Plus with Excel and an Imagewriter to print them on, having never used them before. I successfully completed the project and have loved using Macs ever since.
Thank you Steve Jobs for your insanely great leadership of Apple and your other companies…
He was already chairman – he is simply retaining that title.

thank You Steve for making me love your products and making me work at an Apple premium store and someday at an Apple store, i finally found what i really love to work
Its a very sad day. I think Apple will remain the wonderful, energetic and innovative company that has always been, less one super genius! If only Steve would now run for president, our country would have a chance and actually become profitable!
STEVE JOBS:an amazing inventor and visionary thank you for being your amazing self and for being yourslef and amazing
It is a sad day, but also one of incredible remembrance. As many others have said before, Steve is one of the great business and technology geniuses of history. He made technology feel like magic again, a great gravitational pull to all of the products that have come from his legacy. Steve (and his exceptional colleagues) transformed the way we think about and interact with our computers, he taught us all that dreaming big can pay off in the long run.
Thank you for all you’ve done.
James, Chicago.
I’m just totally shoked. I still can’t believe it.
Steve Jobs ”men who’s changed the world”
