Clever selfie stick disguises itself as an iPhone case

Finally, a selfie stick that's not completely obnoxious.

Selfie sticks receive a lot of hate for being annoying instruments of narcissism. They’re inconvinient to carry around and can make you look just plain silly.

A brilliant new selfie stick may have solved the device’s worst problems though with a cleverly designed iPhone case that hides a telescoping 28-inch long selfie stick in the back. It looks like something Data from The Goonies would invent. And for that reason alone, I love it.

Check it out:

Stikbox is launching as a Kickstarter project, so don’t get your hopes up quite yet that this thing will actually make it out into the real world. If you’d like to support the campaign though, $29 will get you an early production unit in the color of your choice. Units are estimated to ship by May 2016, with plans to hit retail stores later this year priced around $44.

Really? Oh dear. Next up, one with a Lightsaber design, a samurai sword design and a Pirates of the Caribbean scimitar design. Then a few lawsuits for cuts, bruises or poked out eyes.
This is one “invention” we—and especially kids—can probably do without.

WTF? Did you forget to take your meds today? Maybe skipped the last few anger management classes? Probably just pissed that you didn’t think of it first. Whatever it is, get over yourself. This is a great invention that eliminates a second accessory to carry around.

“This is a great invention that eliminates a second accessory to carry around?” I guess so… if you’re either 12 years old, or so completely self-absorbed that you have to take photos of yourself and remind you were you were. I’m neither.

But I •do• think waving a cell phone around at the end of a segmented plastic stick is both silly, and potentially expensive or dangerous if it breaks or hits something, especially another person. And it’s just one more thing to slow up the TSA security line at the airport. But hey, to each his/her own.

        PS:
Am I angry? Quite the contrary, I’m happy and at peace.
Did I take my meds? Yep, good ganja.
Am I pissed I didn’t think of this? Nope, elated I won’t be losing money on it.
Get over myself? Nah, by definition that’s good advice for people… who take selfies.
