No, that’s not an electronic Tootsie Roll — It’s Logitech’s brand-new $50 iPad Speaker (actually, they’re calling it the “Tablet Speaker”; because, apparently, there are other tablets out there. Who knew.)
The stereo speaker tube clips on to the edge of the iPad, plugs in to the iPad’s stereo jack and provide up to eight hours of music (it’s battery recharges through a mini-USB port) It also doubles as a support.
Logitech gave us a peek behind their curtain a few weeks ago, and I came away fairly impressed after stealing a few brief moments with the speaker. It won’t get the party started, but it struck me as a great little speaker for some background music or a little Netflixing; it’s easy to attach, stays put and had just the right amount of sound for its role.
