No, that’s not an electronic Tootsie Roll — It’s Logitech’s brand-new $50 iPad Speaker (actually, they’re calling it the “Tablet Speaker”; because, apparently, there are other tablets out there. Who knew.)
Logitech gave us a peek behind their curtain a few weeks ago, and I came away fairly impressed after stealing a few brief moments with the speaker. It won’t get the party started, but it struck me as a great little speaker for some background music or a little Netflixing; it’s easy to attach, stays put and had just the right amount of sound for its role. I personally can’t imagine anything more antithetical to the design of iPad than a tube you strap onto it to get marginally better sound quality. Did Logitech’s brains fall out once they agreed to make GoogleTV devices?
