Today CBS News added a new channel to the Apple TV. The network’s CBSN channel is the first of its kind to offer live, anchored coverage without a cable subscription.

CBS is now seriously competing with Fox, ABC, CNBC and other competitors on the Apple TV with a mix of streaming news and on-demand content.

The 24/7 channel “features a 60-minute format delivering live, updated news content from 9:00 AM – midnight ET every weekday at launch.” CBS says it’s designed to give “viewers the full flexibility within each hour to control what they watch and when they watch it via DVR-like functionality that allows them to watch previous segments and jump back into live programming seamlessly and across devices.”

Content from CBS News, local affiliate stations, CNET, CBS Sports, Entertainment Tonight, and other CBS properties is accessible within CBSN, and it’s all ad-supported.

You mean like Sky News that currently offers this?

Not quite. Sky News has live streaming, however it does not offer “DVR-like” ability to watch previous segments. Instead it offers you just a few random snippets. Besides, this article is discussing competing news organizations within the USA, not from across the pond.
