Of all the carriers you could possibly get your iPhone 6 through, AT&T is one of the worst. But starting on Sunday, signing a new two-year contract with AT&T is going to get a little more attractive, especially if you use a lot of data: for a limited time, Ma Bell is offering double the data for Mobile Share Value Plans.
Beginning Sunday, Sept. 28, AT&T is offering new promotional Mobile Share Value plans that double the amount of data offered on plans between 15GB to 50 GB of data.
That means if you’re a new or existing customer who signs up now, you get 30GB of bandwidth a month, instead of 15GB. And that includes domestic unlimited talk and text, as well as unlimited international messaging from the U.S. to select countries.
AT&T claims that if you sign-up by October 31st, the data plan will never expire, although AT&T has said that about unlimited data plans in the past too, and we all see how that has gone: AT&T can get sleazy sometimes when they want to move you off a plan you don’t want to give up.
Still, if you’re a heavy data user, this offer by AT&T makes a new two-year contract a little more palatable. And while you’re at it, if you add a new line of service with a smartphone on AT&T Next will receive a $100 credit. Not shabby.

what about those of us at 10gb currently who saw our bill go up for staying in contract
Simple, switch to Next. That’s what the plans were designed for.
You were getting a $25 per line price break for being out of contract and not subsidizing your phone. It was pretty damn clear that it would go back up to $40 per line if you got a subsidized phone on contract.
So, since the initial rush of upgraders is over, they give those people a big FU, and only give “new” upgraders the deal.
And that 50gig deal is probably the same 1.5k/s speed they gave me on my “unlimited” plan when I used “too much” of my unlimited. So… 50gigs with mystery cap near 2gigs(?), then the rest at 1.5k/s is useless. What a bunch of #ATTfail.

Anybody can get this deal, it’s not limited to “new” customers
Mobile share value plans don’t require a contract.
I still have unlimited
amen to that brother
Gee guys could this article be more negative?
ANYONE can get this deal, not just iphone 6 upgraders.
AT&T is not forcing anyone off their unlimited plan. If you have a problem with their website go to a store. Worked for me.
I was on unlimited but just switched to 30 gbs shared data for the same price I never use that much and I hate that they slow me down after 5gbs
Might want to spend a little more time crunching numbers. Verizon’s 2gbp plan with a 2yr contract is $90/mo. $40 for the line and $50 for the data. 90×24=$2160 plus $200 for the phone makes verizons plan $2360 over 2 years making it the MOST expensive
Verizon has a “phone” special loyalty plan until 9/30. $60 = unlimited talk + text + 3 GB of data. I’ve got two iPhone6s on it currently (it’s a single line plan). You can use this for tethering though.
Not doubling my 2gb mobile share? That’s it, switching to T-Mobile.
At least they were kind enough to unlock my 6.
Do you buy the phone full price from AT&T? How did you get your phone unlocked? Was that when you told them you were going to T-Mobile? I’m in the same boat.
Yeah, I paid full price for it, didn’t feel like waiting 2 weeks after preorder to get the mid contract price. One of the reasons I want to switch over, they couldn’t do me a favor and cut that back.
They don’t know I’m switching yet, it’ll probably be another month or so.
Gee thanks my grandfathered “unlimited” plan gets me a throttle down warning at 5 gb, eat a fahkin dik ATT
That they are doing this is a sign that they are losing some data heavy customers to the likes of T-Mobile (truly unlimited). I’m one of them and I’ll never go back to AT&T.
When I try to go to the 30 GB link, I get a Verizon ad, and I cannot get through to AT&T
I am a current AT&T subscriber, and you do not really even need to upgrade your phone for this deal. All you do is call them and switch your plan to at least the 15 GB per month plan and they automatically double it for the lifetime of the plan. If you change your plan outside of October 31st, then you’ll go back to regular pricing, but as long as you leave it alone you will pay the lower price.
