Apple might have just leaked some packaging for the upcoming Apple Watch.

The Apple Jobs website received a nice update today — including a new image of what appears to be some of the Apple Watch packaging that will hit Apple Store shelves April 24. The boxes look too thin to hold the Apple Watch and its inductive charger, so they’re more likely just for bands, but we couldn’t help but notice they look just like Swatch’s iconic boxes.

Here’s a comparison shot:

In a way, it’s fitting. The Apple Watch Sport seems poised to become the next Swatch. Even if it is just a passing fad.

The final packaging Apple uses on launch may vary from the image posted today, but Apple will undoubtedly go for the most minimalist packaging possible. Pricing for Apple Watch bands were finally revealed last week with prices ranging from $49 to $449, but if you want the fanciest bands you’ll have to fork over $10,000 or more for an Apple Watch Edition.

Those are most likely just the straps.

  2. Steved says:

I just can’t believe it a 1000$ bucks to have a sh. itty plastic box
    No thanks

    • Whocares says:

Sure because you will use the box every day too. So plastic box is unacceptable right? /s

    • josephz2va says:

Aren’t the iPhones, iPads, Macs included in a cheap plastic box? I don’t recall any of the upgrades being in die-cast aluminum or carbon-fiber boxes or Samsung’s wood boxes.

      • Steved says:

no they are not in plastic box, my comment refer to the picture, this is about value and positioning, so no @whocares, The box DOES matter, obviously if you don’t you probably need a Casio. I am sure the 17000$ Watch Edition in a plastic box will receive a warm welcome.

      • Chayuth says:

Yes box does matter. Only if you actually read the article you would find out that they are likely STRAP boxes.

And judging from colour of what is in the box, I would assume that they are fluoroelastomer strap which cost $49.

I’m sure that actual Watch and Watch Sport boxes will be like iPod Nano boxes (transparent plastic showcasing what is inside).

Don’t worry. Cult of Mac will post 17,000 more stories about the Apple Watch on Facebook before April 24th since it will take them that long to spell over-saturation and click whore correctly in the same sentence.

    • Leo Bloom says:

You go ahead and cut and paste this comment into every one of those 17,000 articles just to show them what’s wrong with mindless repetition.

      • Steve Chavez says:

Anyone have a script to automate this process? I’m busy eating at In-in-out where I’ve ordered a mustard grilled Double Double with grilled onions, no tomatoes, and well done fries. I also asked for some extra spread since ketchup is for chumps!

  4. Steved says:

    Thanks I already feel better

  5. David Allen says:

I doubt that is the packaging. I think that the Apple Watch packaging will be more along the lines of that for Casio watches, with the watch sitting up in the box. The reason being, I believe that the box can serve as the watch’s charging stand.

    • CelestialTerrestrial says:

That’s true, they have to package the charging unit in the same package. Maybe that packaging is for just buying the watch bands by themselves.

  6. Nick Art says:

next swatch? B*llsh*t. Swatch has style, the apple watch is something completely different.
you buy a swatch to know what time it is. That’s not the reason you buy an apple watch.

    • Michael Superczynski says:

I will be buying an Apple Watch to get accurate timekeeping.
Plus, as an insulin-dependent diabetic, the Dexcom app + CGM will change my life.

    • CelestialTerrestrial says:

Swatch. Style? I never thought that highly of Swatches, they seemed too rinky dink El Cheapo plastic watches for my tastes. They catered those watches to teenagers and young adults with no money.

  7. Jonas Hamill says:

I’m sure I read on one of those recent Jony Ive articles, may have been on the new yorker, where Jony said the watch’s box is made of leather and doubles as a dock for the device.

  8. TrollSoul says:

    It’s a piece of crap
