As the seasonal ads on TVs everywhere ask, are you ready for some football? The Apple Sports app certainly is, having launched full support Monday for real-time scores and stats for the onrushing NFL and college football seasons. They kick off with pro preseason play now underway and the first college games starting August 24.
Apple Sports app adds NFL and college football support
The Apple Sports app launched in February 2024, promising convenience and simplicity for sports fans. Its tagline is “Your real-time scores and stats app, fast and simple.” It launched with a selection of 10 sports in play at the time, and with the promise to add more as their seasons launched. Now comes version 1.6 with full support for NFL and NCAA Division 1 college football, along with a new Stats tab on game pages. Check out how to download and use the app.
Just as Apple says, the app is easy to use. You can select your sports and teams to get play-by-play updates, betting odds, box scores and more. You can follow leagues, teams and tournaments on your scoreboard. And you can sync your favorite leagues and teams with the Apple TV app and Apple News. Set it up right and you’ll never miss a detail as your team does battle on the gridiron with dreams of making the playoffs, at least in a Wild Card slot. But when injuries take top players out and refs make bad calls left and right, you never know what will happen.
Version 1.6 release notes
Like the app itself, the new coverage and features are straightforward:
- Kick off this NFL season with Apple Sports. Follow your favorite teams all season long in real time.
 - College Football is back. Check scores, stats, play-by-play, and more for every Division 1 conference and team.
 - Catch up on team stats, box scores, and lineups—now in one place with the new Stats tab on game pages.
