The first wave of Apple Watch are finally here just in time for Friday’s big release. The Apple Watch App Store went live yesterday with over 3,000 apps that are sure to delight users, as developers try to create the first must-have Apple Watch app.
We rounded up some of our the coolest apps that are ready for your wrist this morning, but we also couldn’t help but notice there were a lot of apps that would be awesome if they were available today.
Here are 7 killer apps Apple Watch should have, but doesn’t:
Snapchat
The Apple Watch could open up new forms of wrist-based communication. Snapchat’s 10-second messages seems like they’d be a good fit for Jony’s wrist-worn computer, but the company isn’t supporting Apple’s wearable yet. Maybe they’re waiting until the next version that comes with a camera too.
Dropcam
Instead of having to pull out my iPhone when my Dropcam senses someone out on my front yard it’d be great to get a quick preview on your wrist before you decide if you really need to pull your iPhone 6 Plus out.
Tamagotchi
A virtual pet on your wrist that you can feed, bathe, and play with for 10 second intervals throughout the day.
August Smartlock
SPG hotels are letting guests unlock their rooms with iPhones and Apple Watches, but it’d be much more useful if August and other smartlock companies came out with Apple Watch apps so you never have to fiddle with keys.
VSCO Cam
The remote viewfinder and camera shutter button on the Apple Watch is one of the coolest features we’ve seen so far, it’s just too bad you can only use Apple’s camera app for it. We’d love a VSCO Cam version of the same thing, or the option to connect it to a DSLR with WiFi.
Nest
No more having to walk over to the thermostat or pull out your phone to make adjustments to air temperature.
Better games
Games on the Apple Watch need to be radically different from games on the iPhone. Most the Apple Watch games we’ve seen so far are just miniaturized versions fit for the Apple Watch’s tiny display. Some devs are ready to think different though, like the guys behind Spy_Watch, which uses the notification system to create a game that lets you run a spy organization from your wrist.

What about an app that will sound an alarm on your watch when you walk away from your phone? Wouldn’t that be nifty?
