Two different leakers claim to give the world very early looks at Apple’s MagSafe power bank for on-the-go charging. This will allegedly attach to an iPhone with magnets so it can wireless juice up the handset.
But there are questions whether Apple can fix problems with development and actually release the product.
Flows Bandwidth Bluetooth audio sunglasses pair well with an iPhone. Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac
Flows Bandwidth’s Bluetooth audio sunglasses let you listen to podcasts or take calls without blocking out the world around you. Despite speakers built into the stems, the men’s or women’s versions look like any other sunglasses. But they keep you entertained on the go.
I’ve worn these smart glasses for weeks. Here’s why I like them.

The short list of truly MagSafe-compatible accessories grew a bit on Tuesday, as the Belkin Boost↑Charge Pro 2-in-1 Wireless Charger Stand can now be preordered. This holds up an iPhone 12 for easy viewing, and includes a pad for AirPods cases that support wireless charging.

Desk clutter can be a real problem, and if you’re trying to clear as much space off your working area as possible (a cleaner space will lead to increased productivity levels, right?), one of the easiest ways to do that is to use multifunction furnishings and gadgets.
Hook your iPhone, iPad or Apple TV to a keyboard and mouse for gaming with the KeyMander 2 Mobile from IOGear. Photo: IOGear
The IOGear KeyMander 2 Mobile is for iPhone users that prefer gaming with a keyboard and mouse instead of a touchscreen or controller. It works with Apple Arcade, Google Stadia and App Store games. Even ones that don’t offer native support for desktop-type input devices.
Beyond iPhone, it also works with iPad and Apple TV.
There's magic in magnets. This case attaches to the iPhone 12 lineup (and works with other smartphones, too). Photo: Chargeworx
We all have one friend who’s constantly misplacing their wallet or their phone — or maybe that friend is you. When you’re always carrying a bunch of small items, it’s especially easy to misplace the things that are the most important. And there’s nothing worse than realizing that your wallet or phone is missing (especially if you have the new iPhone 12).

Securely mount your iPhone on an Xbox controller with the OtterBox Mobile Gaming Clip. Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac
Playing fast-moving games on a touchscreen is often frustrating. And while iOS supports external game controllers, combining one with an iPhone can be cumbersome. But not with the OtterBox Mobile Gaming Clip. It attaches an iPhone to an Xbox controller in a surprisingly usable setup.
I did some gaming with the phone mount to see how it stands up to real-world use. Spoiler: it performed far better than the many cheap alternatives.
The Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K is the clip-on power bank we’ve been hoping for. Mostly. Photo: Anker
Anker will apparently launch the first power bank that uses the MagSafe system to magnetically attach to an iPhone 12 series model. The PowerCore Magnetic 5K will be able to transmit 5000mAh to Apple’s latest handsets through inductive charging.
However, the external battery doesn’t fully support the new MagSafe system so it doesn’t offer enhanced charging speeds.

If you own one of the iPhone 12 models — which Cult of Mac reviewers basically called the greatest thing since sliced bread — you know they’re fabulous smartphones. But even near-perfect devices can still be missing something.
And in this case, that “something” seems fairly obvious. But this Logiix Essential Kit — with an 18-watt power adapter and Lightning earphones — fills that void. It packs the accessories you wish your iPhone 12 came with out of the box.

Aukey’s 18W USB-C power adapter has definite advantages over Apple’s offerings. Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac
Aukey makes a USB-C charger that’s about as small at the standard 5 watt iPhone charger but provides far more power. The Minima 18W PD Charger can quickly juice up an Apple phone or tablet, as well as other devices. With it, that old 5W charger can go in a drawer where it belongs.
It’s a low-cost option, plus I tested the product with an iPhone and an iPad so you can be sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

With iPhone prices rising to heights that make the devices more of a serious investment with each new model, those lucky enough to find themselves the proud owner of a new device had better protect it.
