Computers, tablets, even iPhones have grown into powerful tools for music making, but for many who play guitar the bridge from analog instrument to digital devices can be an intimidating one. The Jamstik Wireless Smart Guitar is a great way to cross the digital divide, a MIDI controlling guitar with frets and strings that feel familiar to any guitarist’s fingers. It’s also cheaper than most keyboard controllers (and certainly guitars), available right now for just $149.99.

All the styles and techniques of regular guitar playing are available, whether flatpicking or fingerstyle, and without ever needing to tune. When you shake or bend a string on the Jamstik, the notes in the computer respond like a real guitar, except instead of coming through a sound hole or amp, the tones connect with any of the Apple music apps and software. It’s an ultra portable and truly plug-and-play device, with full volume controls and infrared lights that illuminate your playing. Plus, being a MIDI instrument, you can use it to record parts for any instruments — drums, piano, Tibetan singing bowls, you name it — straight into your computer or mobile device.
Guitarists, change how you make music without having to change instruments for just $149.99 at Cult of Mac Deals.

You’d think a video like this of someone playing a guitar would actually have a soundtrack of the guitar music being played. Otherwise, what the point?
