the iLumi, has been going for $75-$79 for a few months now…sounds more like a paid advertisement….

I bought one of these and never received it. I blame the post office. It tracked all the way to my door, but I was home and it never arrived. Phillips Hue due at my door in a couple days. Things happen. Like I said, I blame the post office, not Cult of Mac or ilumi.

I have the Hue, it’s great. The fact that it’s controllable over the network makes it more usable to me than the bluetooth option which requires proximity.

      • JimGramze says:

I was off put by the Hue at first because it required a hub, and I didn’t really understand what that was — another device just sitting there. The fact that with one hub you can have 50 bulbs going makes it OK with me. We’ll see how we like the three bulbs in the starter kit and whether they are bright enough. It’s possible that we will add to them over time. For the time being, when we get them tomorrow, two go in the bedroom side lamps and the other is in a portable lamp for making video podcasts. The adjustable brightness and color might be just the thing for a single light source that can be close. I can’t wait!
