Forner HBO chief executive Richard Plepler has signed a five-year deal with Apple to make original feature films, documentaries and television series for Apple TV Plus.

Plepler was at HBO for 27 years and played important roles in the rise of original programming at the network.

A law that restricts foreign ownership in video streaming services to a 20% stake would kick in if Apple TV+ reaches 50% of Russian video streaming users.

Catastrophe creator Sharon Horgan inks Apple TV+ deal

The U.K. division of Apple’s worldwide entertainment team finally inked its first major exclusive-look deal this week, after reaching an agreement with Catastrophe creator, Sharon Horgan.

Horgan, who just finished a similar deal with Amazon, will be reunited with Jay Hunt, Apple’s creative director in Europe. Hunt commissioned Catastrophe for Channel 4 and Amazon.

The first trailer for Little America, Apple’s anthology series about immigrants, is finally here, and it might just be the antidote we need for these wildly divisive impeachment days.

Clocking in at just over two minutes, the Little America trailer starts with a round table discussion among immigrants from various nations talking about things you’ll only see in America. The trailer then dives into glimpses from the eight different episodes that show the uniqueness of all immigrant stories.

Apple TV+ added a new docuseries to its roster of upcoming content after striking a deal with actress and comedian Wanda Sykes’ production company this week.

Visible: Out on Television is set to debut on Apple TV+ on February 14, 2020. The five-part series will examine how television shaped the LGBTQ movement and vice-versa and will include a lot of familiar faces you’ll probably recognize.

Apple today made its first iOS 13.3.1 and macOS 10.15.3 betas available to developers.

The minor updates don’t have patch notes yet. But they likely fix a serious flaw in Communication Limits, which can allow messages to be received from unauthorized contacts, among other bugs.

New betas are also available for HomePod, iPad, and Apple TV.

Apple Arcade recently added yet another title to its massive library of games and it’s one of the trippiest games we’ve played.

Manifold Garden puts players in an Escheresque world where repeating geometry is used to make you question the very laws of physics. Your task is to solve puzzles to restore vegetation to the barren landscape. The weird geography makes you feel like you just took a high dose of LSD making all the puzzles that much harder.

Little America gets second season deal for Apple TV+

Apple is so confident in one of its upcoming TV shows that it’s already been greenlit for a second season before the first season has even debuted on Apple TV+.

Season one of Little America, an anthology series about the lives of American immigrants, is set to air on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020. Created by The Big Sick writers Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, along with Lee Eisenberg, the season is comprised of eight 30-minute long episodes and Apple just shared snippets on what each one is about.

The remote is minimalist to the point of being difficult to use — and one Swiss TV and internet provider has apparently taken note. While it provides Apple TVs to its customers, it does so with its own traditional remote.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association today revealed that Apple original The Morning Show has been nominated for multiple Golden Globes, including best television drama series.

The news comes hours after the Critics’ Choice Awards nominated Billy Crudup, who plays Cory Ellison in The Morning Show, as the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Apple TV+ series The Morning Show just earned its first award nomination. Billy Crudup, who plays cocky network head Cory Ellison, is up for Best Supporting Actor in the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Crudup is up against Peter Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, and Tim Blake Nelson, who plays Wade Tillman in HBO’s hot new action drama Watchmen.

Apple is quickly adding new members to the cast of Dickinson as it gears up for a new season, including the actor who played one of the most iconic minor characters of Game of Thrones.

Finn Jones, of Loras Tyrell fame, has reportedly signed on for a role in season 2. He will be joined by Pico Alexander as newcomers on the teen drama show that has been lauded as one of the best series to come out of Apple TV+ so far.
