After a draught of new content on Apple TV+ over the holidays, the streaming service got 5 hours and 15 minutes of new shows to watch this week. Apple debuted all 8 episodes of its Apple Originals series Little America.

The critically acclaimed anthology series tells true stories of immigrants in America. It was developed by Kumail Nanjiani and Emily Gordon, writers of The Big Sick, and former US Office writer and producer, Lee Eisenberg.

If that’s not enough for you, Apple TV+ also released the season finale of Servant. This is the spooky 10-part series developed by M. Night Shyamalan and Tony Basgallop. The preview for the final episode reads: “After Jericho’s baptism, uninvited guests force difficult decisions.”

In addition, we got episode two of Oprah’s Book Club. Featuring an interview with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Elizabeth Sprout, the preview reads: “Elizabeth tells Oprah how her celebrated protagonist reappeared and why she finds the everydayness of life to be extraordinary.”

Little America and more on Apple TV+

The decision to drop all 8 episodes of Little America at once is interesting. Right now, there seems to be little rhyme or reason for how Apple introduces its shows.

Apple debuts new content every Friday. But some shows debut one episode at a time. These include The Morning Show, See, For All Mankind, Servant, and Truth Be Told. Oprah’s Book Club seems to be more sporadic, with a new episode popping up every few months. Apple introduced other shows, like Dickinson, in one shot for maximum binge-watching. The same is true of kids shows like Snoopy in Space.

I figured that Apple was introducing kids’ shows (or those, like Dickinson, that will skew younger in audience) in one go. Meanwhile, more adult-oriented shows are released one episode per week. But Little America is as prestigious (if not more) and grown-up as anything Apple TV+ has so far debuted. Maybe after several weeks of little new content, Apple just felt the pressure to upload as much fresh content as possible.

Still, since Apple TV+ won’t be debuting its next series, Mythic Quest, until February, next week could be very, very quiet indeed.
