Latest Servant trailer may be the creepiest one yet
What were those rumors about Apple only making family-friendly shows?

The latest trailer for Servant, M. Night Shyamalan’s eagerly anticipated Apple TV+ show, may just be the creepiest yet.

With music swelling, it shows a bespectacled man putting together Jericho, the “fake baby” doll that plays a big role in the series. Prepare to be unnerved!

Servant is the first scary (not quite horror, but certainly psychologically unnerving) series on Apple TV+. It follows parents Dorothy and Sean Turner, who hire a young nanny to look after their newborn child. However, things aren’t what they appear to be. For starters, after losing a child, the parents apparently adopt a baby doll as their surrogate baby and treat it like, well, a real baby. Then a new nanny forms a bond with the fake baby, seemingly treating it like it’s all totally normal.

That’s a scenario that recalls movies like The Boy and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, perhaps with a dose of Rosemary’s Baby for good measure. However, I trust the brains behind Apple TV+ to have put a fresh spin on it.

Servant trailer hints at Night Shyamalan return to form

Director M. Night Shyamalan remains best known for his 1999 movie The Sixth Sense. Since then, many of his projects have been far less well-received. But he’s also been on a bit of an upswing recently. Both Split and Glass were pretty good. And there’s no doubt that the man can cultivate a creepy atmosphere.

Apple TV+ debuted on November 1, bringing Apple’s slate of original shows to subscribers. Subscription costs $4.99 per month, although anyone who buys a new iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV gets a “free” one-year subscription as part of their purchase. Servant will debut on November 28. If it’s anything like The Morning Show, See, and For All Mankind, Apple will roll the show out gradually. It may launch with three (?) episodes and then new ones debuting each Friday.
