Netflix has confirmed plans to bring a new Stranger Things game to mobile.

Unlike its previous title, this one will be a location-based puzzle RPG that will take fans into the real world much like Pokémon Go. But you’ll have to wait until 2020 to get your hands on it.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to the first Stranger Things x Fortnite crossover.

Stranger Things’ much-anticipated third season kicks off on July 4. Most of us will binge watch every episode and it will be over in no time, and we’ll be left waiting for our next Stranger Things fix.

Netflix hasn’t confirmed a fourth season yet — but there will be new games to enjoy when we’re finished with the show.

Gamers have a lot of Stranger Things to look forward to

First up, there’s Stranger Things 3: The Game. This will play a lot like the original Stranger Things game that hit the App Store in October 2017, in that it will let players explore the show’s universe in 16-bit glory.

There’s just one problem with that particular title: It has only been confirmed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for now. Mobile players will have to wait until 2020 to get their hands on another upcoming release.

A new location-based puzzle RPG developed by Next Games has been confirmed for Android and iOS. It will give players the opportunity to take on quests in the Upside Down while they explore the world around them.

Stranger Things is coming to a town near you

“Our core focus will be to deliver on Stranger Things’ rich and intense themes like friendship and supernatural adventure, and translate these into snack-sized entertainment on your mobile device,” said Teemu Huuhtanen, CEO of Next Games.

If friendship and adventure are the focus, it’s only fitting that this game will get you out of the house and teaming up with others. It will feature Google Maps integration and you’ll need to visit real-world locations to progress.

Next Games has developed similar titles in the past, such as The Walking Dead: Our World. It is perhaps the leader in location-based augmented reality games, alongside Pokémon Go developer Niantic.

Look out for Stranger Things in Fortnite

As if two new games wasn’t enough, Netflix has also confirmed the first Stranger Things x Fortnite crossover. We don’t have any details yet, but Netflix promises more information “in a few weeks.”

Stranger Things has already started making its way into Fortnite, though. One of the game’s latest Easter eggs is a Scoops Ahoy ice cream parlor — where character Steve Harrington works in the third season of the show — located in Mega Mall.
