Developers received a new batch of beta updates this morning, including the second beta build of iOS 11.4.
The new build brings a number of new features to the iPhone and iPad, including some that were pulled from iOS 11.3, like AirPlay 2 and Messages on iCloud. Apple has added a number of bug fixes and performance improvements in the new builds as it preps it for a public release.
Registered developers can grab iOS 11.4 beta 4 from the Apple developer center. It can also be installed as an over-the-air update if you have the previous beta build installed.
What’s inside iOS 11.4
It’s unclear if Apple has made any major changes in iOS 11.4 beta 2 compared to the last build. It most likely contains under-the-hood fixes.
AirPlay 2 is the biggest new feature in iOS 11.4. It allows you to stream the same song to a HomePod and Apple TV, or play stereo music with two HomePods. The Home app has been fixed so that Apple TV shows up in your devices menu.
Other features include Messages on iCloud. The feature allows you to save space on one device by deleting convos, while still being able to see them on the web. iOS 11.4 also adds support for the ClassKit framework Apple unveiled at its educational event last month.
