With its years old traditions and ability to make us feel like kids again, Christmas is a pretty nostalgic time of year. So why not create a festive ad that takes us back to the glory days of 2004, by using Gwen Stefani to try and sell us on Apple Music and her latest album?
Or, at least, that’s what we’re assuming was the rationale behind Apple’s latest holidays-themed ad. Check it out below:
The album in question is Stefani’s Christmas album, “You Make it Feel Like Christmas,” which was released in October, priced $7.99. It is available on both Apple Music and iTunes, and features modern covers of 12 Christmas songs.
The new one-minute animated ad depicts a cartoon Stefani in a modern retelling of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The story concerns Santa encountering Stefani on Christmas eve and asking her to perform a song for Mrs. Claus, who naturally is contacted via FaceTime.
Earlier this month, Stefani performed live for Apple employees at the company’s holiday Beer Bash. “A huge thanks @gwenstefani for celebrating the holidays with us and performing from your new holiday album,” Tim Cook wrote on Twitter. “It was B-A-N-A-N-A-S!”
