“Component shortages and technical challenges” could delay the iPhone 8 until 2018, according to a research note from Deutsche Bank analysts.
Deutsche Bank’s note is apparently based on information from report from ValueWalk. Although it thinks you may be waiting a bit longer for the iPhone 8, however, it does go against some recent reports by saying that Apple will also release an iPhone 7s this fall.
That phone will apparently be shipped in September, which means that Apple would still have a new iPhone model to get it through the hot holiday season.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard suggestions that the iPhone 8 may be delayed. Recently, Digitimes suggested that Apple was suffering, “technical issues related to the lamination process of curved OLED panels, and the adoption of a 3D sensing system.” As a result it suggested that Apple might delay, “the launch of its next-generation iPhone to October or even November, instead of September as usual.”
A separate report claimed that Apple is reportedly facing multiple supplier problems with the iPhone 8, as manufacturers hit roadblocks relating to the handsets’ display, wireless charging and printed circuit boards. This has allegedly delayed the iPhone 8 component manufacturing process by one or two months.
A delay until 2018 would certainly be a massive deal for Apple — not just because it would hit Apple in the wallet by costing it sales at its most popular time of year, but also because the iPhone 8 is commonly cited as being a tenth anniversary celebration of the original iPhone. The first-gen iPhone launched in June 2007.
Would you be happy to wait until 2018 for the iPhone 8? Would this be a major misstep on Apple’s part? Leave your comments below.

Not buying another phone tulle April 2018 anyway. I’ll buy whatever the newest iPhone is regardless of when they come out.
Good things come to those who wait
I have learned mature patience with all aspects of my life EXCEPT for with new iPhone release season. Come on, Apple! You can do it!
I have waited 3 years. I want my 8! Snifff…wahhhhh!
Doing it right is better than doing it fast.
As human and part of the earth and enviroment, it’s good news that iPhone 8 might be delayed! I’ve had serveral iPhones over the years, but new models become more fragile and old models become technically obsolete within the set up of Apple. At least I will try to buy recycled stuff.
If they relocate the Home button to the back of the iPhone, I won’t be buying it anyway. Take as long as you need, Apple, to get it right. Frankly, all the latest updates have been eye candy, not substantial. Let’s see if there is new ground to break. Skeptical.
I was so disappointed with the iPhone 7 that I did not buy it. That is the only iPhone that I do not own. I am afraid that Tim Cook doesn’t have the vision that Steve Jobs had. I love how apple products all play nice together but apple has not excited me in years. I don’t know what my next phone will be I think I will be replacing my apple $450 watch for a $129 fitbit this weekend. Apple if you can’t excite me with your over priced average tech you will not get any more of my money.
