Want to be able to order and pay for burgers using your iPhone?
Burger King has announced that it will be releasing a dedicated mobile app, featuring a Passbook-style virtual card that allows users to load on cash and then use this to make payments.
According to an article published by Bloomberg, the Burger King app will also include “coupons for deals, such as $1 any-size drinks and free fries, as well as nutrition facts.” A feature allowing you to place an order for pick-up at a later time will additionally be included.
By embracing smartphones, Burger King is hoping to appeal to “millennial diners” in the 18 to 35 age bracket, who will be attracted by the convenience of the new system. – to call into Burger King more often.
“What younger consumers are looking for is the ability to use their phones to do everything,” says Darren Tristano, executive vice president of the food industry research firm Tillster Inc., adding that, “The cell phone has replaced the wallet.”
In a statement, Burger King has confirmed that the new system will be added to all of its 7,000 U.S. locations in “a few months.”
