With iOS 7, Apple added official support for third-party game controllers. The new framework is part of the company’s MFi program, and we’ve already seen some Made-For-iPhone controllers in the wild. Logitech teased its own iPhone gamepad just last month along with ClamCase, and now Logitech’s upcoming controller has been leaked.

Evleaks posted the above images today showing a Logitech controller for the iPhone with the classic d-pad and shoulder buttons.
There are two kinds of game controllers Apple allows with iOS 7: a controller that the iOS device docks in (like Logitech’s) and a standalone controller that pairs via Bluetooth. Any game designed for a physical controller must also be fully playable on the iOS device’s touchscreen.
No word on when this gamepad from Logitech will be available yet, but it will probably be a popular stocking-stuffer come Christmas.

Great, I’ve been hoping for controllers to appear. Didn’t realise IOS 6 and below didn’t actually support them until I saw it announced for IOS 7. I’ve bought GTA III for the iPad, but found it impossible to control via the touchscreen. Seems like this Logitech thing might need a few more buttons though. Here’s hoping for a doohickey that let’s me use my Xbox controller!
