We think the design of the iPhone 5 is pretty stinkin’ gorgeous. Only problem is that its anodized aluminium casing has a tendency to scratch up very easy.
Once you’ve accrued a few scratches on your iPhone 5 you might mourn the loss of its brand new look, or you could just scratch it up even more to make it look totally awesome. It sounds counterintuitive, but that’s what one YouTube user did and the results are pretty awesome.
Take a look at the video below to see the result –

if i wanted a polished band around my phone, i’d have kept my iphone 4s
iSandpaper, only $9.99 a sheet
I knew someday, some black iPhone 5 owner is gonna do this soon.
That day has arrived.
Hence why I bought the white iPhone :P
Would anyone else actually do this? I usually like the little scratches and dings that an iPhone picks up after months of use. They give it character, and polishing the band makes it lose all that.
Looks much better. Now I want to see someone sand the whole back of their phone. Come on! Do it!
LOL Do that sure but you will void your warranty completely. I know Apple is very strict on this sort of thing. I got AppleCare + on my iPhone 5 just in case something happens to my $800 iDevice.
It looks pretty good! It makes me wonder why Apple didn’t make the black iPhone 5 like this in the first place.
Similar to relic guitars. The trick is to know when to stop.
How would this void the warranty? If the iPhone got a scratch on it with out the sandpaper, would that void the warranty? I don’t think so. Its not like you are taking the phone apart to color the edge.
