Vision Pro launched in Apple Stores in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore on Friday. It’s the first time the AR headset has been officially available outside the United States since it debuted in February.
In addition, the product went up for preorder in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the U.K. on Friday. Delivery will come in July.
Bringing Apple Vision Pro to Asia
Vision Pro is Apple’s first foray into what the company calls “spatial computing.” The headset focuses on augmented reality, which overlays computer-generated content onto the real world, though it offers virtual reality, too. And there are many other features — it can be a desktop Mac replacement. While its bleeding-edge technology draws praise, the $3,500 price remains a drawback.
After a surge of sales at the February launch, U.S. demand for Vision Pro supposedly slowed. Apple’s answer is expanding availability. The move will also increase the number of developers who can create software for visionOS.
Potential customers in parts of Asia can now visit Apple retail locations for a guided demonstration of the AR headset.
Apple AR headset is also coming to Europe and beyond
Although not yet on store shelves, those interested in the cutting-edge product can put in a preorder in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the U.K. Orders placed today will reach customers on July 12.
The only options for configuring the spatial computer are for storage tiers — the base model comes with 256 GB but is upgradable to 512 GB or 1 TB. ZEISS lens inserts for correcting the wearer’s vision are also available.
The price is actually higher than in the United States. The base model Vision Pro is £3,499 in the U.K., for example. In France, the cost is 3999€.
And, of course, anyone interested can drop in on an Apple Store in the United States for a demo, too. That said, many people are likely waiting on the more affordable version that lakes indicate could arrive at the end of 2025.
