Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon picked up seven nominations for the 81st Golden Globe Awards. That puts the Apple TV+ historical drama near the top in total noms.

And several series from Apple’s streaming service also did well, including The Morning Show and Lessons in Chemistry.

Killers of the Flower Moon is a standout

The Golden Globe Awards have been racked by controversy for decades, and are no longer run by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Starting this year, Dick Clark Productions will “plan, host, and produce the annual Golden Globe Awards,” according to the company.

Apple backed Killers of the Flower Moon with the hopes that the film would bring in awards, and it’s delivering. It picked up a nomination for best drama, best screenplay and best score. Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone and Robert De Niro all earned acting noms. Martin Scorsese is up for best director.

Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, which was also produced in the hopes it would be a critics’ darling, got none.

Apple TV+ picked up plenty of Golden Globe nominations

And that’s not the end of Apple TV+ Golden Globe nominations.

The Morning Show is up for best drama series, while the last season of Ted Lasso earned a nod for best comedy. Brie Larson’s very popular Lessons in Chemistry romance-drama got a nom for best limited series.

Gary Oldman is up for best actor in a drama for the spy-thriller series Slow Horses (which is also pulling in big audiences), while Jason Segel got a nom in the Best Actor in a Comedy category for Shrinking. Both Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham earned nominations for Ted Lasso.

Brie Larson was recognized as best actress in a limited series for Lessons in Chemistry, and Billy Crudup us up for best supporting actor for The Morning Show.

The 81st Golden Globe Awards will be televised live on CBS on Sunday, January 7.

Many of these Apple TV+ series also picked up nominations in the Critics Choice TV awards, which were revealed earlier in December.
