No show got more nominations in the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards than The Morning Show, one of the premier offerings on Apple TV+. There are six noms, with stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon both up for best actress in a drama series.

And Lessons in Chemistry and Shrinking also added significantly to the 16 total Apple TV+ nominations in six categories.

The Morning Show, Lessons in Chemistry and Shrinking all score multiple award noms

Whenever Apple CEO Tim Cook talks about the films and TV series his company has created, he emphasizes the number of awards and nominations they have earned. At last count, the total is 392 wins and 1,683 nominations.

And The Morning Show just solidly added to that total. In addition to the nominations already mentioned, it’s up for the Critics Choice Award for Best Drama Series, and Billy Crudup, Nicole Beharie and Karen Pittman all got nominations for Best Supporting Actor/Actress in this type of show.

This is one of the original slate of Apple TV+ series when the service launched in 2019, and season three wrapped up this fall. The show is set in the cutthroat world of a morning news program.

And Lessons in Chemistry didn’t do so badly, either. It scored a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Limited Series, with Brie Larson up for Best Actress. And Lewis Pullman and Aja Naomi King got noms for Best Supporting Actor/Actress in a Limited Series.

The Apple TV+ romance-drama proved very popular, staying at the top of the list of most-watched shows on streaming for its entire run this autumn.

Plus, Shrinking added three nominations to the total, including Best Comedy Series. And screen legend Harrison Ford is up for Best Supporting Actor in this type of show, while Jessica Williams got a Best Supporting Actress nom.

The first season of the comedy series played on Apple TV+ in spring 2023, and drew in big audiences. It’s about a struggling therapist who throws out the psychological rulebook and tells his clients what he really thinks they should do.

Ted Lasso and more also scored Critics Choice TV awards nominations

Those three took in the majority of the nominations earned by Apple’s streaming service, but three more shows were also recognized.

Most notably, Tom Holland was nominated for Best Actor in a Limited Series for starring in The Crowded Room.

In addition, Phil Dunster is up for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the beloved Ted Lasso. Ron Cephas Jones was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Trust Be Told.

The winners of the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards will be revealed on Sunday, January 14, 2024 in Los Angeles.
