Apple’s 2022 smartwatch has all the features you want
The Apple Watch Series 9 is the Cupertino company’s latest smartwatch. But that does not mean it is the model you should buy. By all means, last year’s Apple Watch Series 8 is still a great buy. It features a durable and crack-resistant shell, an edge-to-edge Always-On Retina Display, and a bevy of health sensors. You also get a temperature sensor, though it has a limited use case. Apple currently only uses it for cycle tracking in females.
Compared to Series 8, the Apple Watch Series 9 features a faster S9 SiP, on-device Siri, and a faster Neural Engine. You also get a brighter display and Precision Finding with HomePod integration. The most important addition is a double tap gesture that lets you control the watch with just one hand. But unless you have a specific use case, none of these improvements will immediately stand out.
More importantly, the watchOS 10 experience is the same on both wearables. The biggest update to the OS since its inception, watchOS 10 brings revamped system apps that better use the bigger display, widget stacking, and more.
Apple Watch Series 8 drops to its lowest price
The 41mm Apple Watch Series 8 costs $399 with the Midnight Aluminum case. Amazon has currently slashed its price by 25% to $299, making it a stellar deal. If you have bigger wrists, consider opting for the 4mm variant. It carried a $429 MSRP but is currently discounted by 18% to $349.97 on Amazon. The Product(RED) variant is listed with a slightly higher 20% discount.
