Hijack, the Apple TV+ thriller starring Idris Elba, wrapped up last week, and the finale pushed the series to the very top of the charts. It became the most popular show on any streaming service, according to a market analysis.

With the entire season of Hijack available, now is the time to binge-watch it.

Hijack was popular from take-off to landing

When Hijack hit Apple TV+ in June, the thriller immediately shot to near the top of the charts. It stayed there the entire run, and is ending on a high note.

Idris Elba’s series ranked No. 1 on ReelGood’s list of Top 10 Movies & TV during the week ending August 9. “Hijack is the most popular title this week,” noted Isabel Riofrío, an analyst with ReelGood.

And the thriller came in at No. 3 on JustWatch‘s list of top streaming series for the week ending August 6.

The two services base popularity rankings on streams and engagement on their platforms among millions of users in the United States across all streaming video services.

In case you missed Hijack

The series consists of a seven-episode story arc. The season finale streamed on August 2.

The official Apple TV+ description says:

“Told in real time, Hijack is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, and authorities on the ground scramble for answers. Elba will star as Sam Nelson, an accomplished negotiator in the business world who needs to step up and use all his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers — but, his high-risk strategy could be his undoing.”

The entire series is available now, ready to binge-watch, on Apple’s streaming service. Access comes with a $6.99-per-month subscription.

With Sam’s tense situation now wrapped up, fans of the show — and there are many of them — want to know if there’ll be a season two. The answer: maybe.
