“Sometimes, the people who make the biggest difference aren’t the ones who grab the spotlight,” Apple TV+ said Wednesday, when it dropped a trailer for a new Peanuts special focusing on the introverted character Marcie and all the behind-the-scenes work she does.

Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie premieres Friday, August 18.

Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie trailer shows her crucial role among friends

Calling Marcie a “lovable introvert,” Apple TV+ said the new special shows what a big difference she makes in a quiet way for her friends and community.

Here’s the streaming service’s unusually detailed description of the special’s plot:

To train for the school golf championship, Marcie assists Peppermint Patty as her caddie, offering thoughtful and deliberate advice to help her win. Meanwhile, after coming up with brilliant solutions to her classmates’ problems — from hallway traffic jams to lunchtime pizza shortages — Marcie is unexpectedly elected as class president … a role she never wanted.

Suddenly thrust into the spotlight, Marcie struggles to cope with the expectations of her new job and retreats as far from the public eye as possible. As the golf championship begins, Marcie is still in hiding and Peppermint Patty is forced to tee off with Charlie Brown filling in as her caddie. But after some wise advice and a little introspection, Marcie realizes she can still make a difference for her friends and the school — she’ll just have to buck other people’s expectations and do it her own unique way.

And get this. Marcie’s the one person who voted for Pig Pen in the election she won. “I just thought he ran a clean campaign,” she said.

Another Peanuts and WildBrain production

Peanuts and WildBrain produced the special for Apple TV+. Emmy Award winner Raymond S. Persi (The Simpsons, Wreck-It-Ralph) directed it, Betsy Walters (The Snoopy Show, Snoopy in Space) wrote it, and Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, Cornelius Uliano, Paige Braddock, Josh Scherba, Stephanie Betts and Logan McPherson executive produced it.

Earlier in 2023, Peanuts and WildBrain rolled out two upcoming Peanuts originals. The series Camp Snoopy features Snoopy, the Beagle Scouts, Charlie Brown and friends in an action-packed summer. And the special Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin goes back and shows how a favorite character originally made friends with Charlie Brown and the gang.
