Apple TV+ took home nine Emmys at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards Monday night, including Outstanding Comedy Series for Ted Lasso for the second year running.

The streaming service won four Emmys for Ted Lasso and others for Carpool Karaoke: The Series, SeveranceSchmigadoon! and Home Before Dark.

Apple TV+ bags 9 Emmys with smash hit Ted Lasso taking top comedy honors for second year in a row

Apple noted that back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy wins for Ted Lasso‘s seasons 1 and 2 vaults the series into the ranks of the most-celebrated comedies in history. It’s the eighth comedy series in 74 years of Emmys to do it.

The second season of Ted Lasso also became the most Emmy-winning comedy for the second year in a row with four total wins. In addition to Outstanding Comedy Series, they include Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Jason Sudeikis), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Brett Goldstein) and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (MJ Delaney).

The series, which nabbed seven Emmys last year, joins just seven other comedy series to win Outstanding Comedy Series in their first two years. They are Modern Family, 30 Rock, Frasier, The Golden Girls, Cheers, All in the Family and The Phil Silvers Show.

“We’re so grateful and humbled to see ‘Ted Lasso’ honored with back-to-back wins for best comedy as audiences around the world continue to love the show and these characters as much as we do,” said Zack Van Amburg, Apple’s co-head of Worldwide Video. “It has been such an honor for all of us at Apple to collaborate with the exceptionally gifted cast and creative team to bring this heartwarming, hilarious, and kind series to the screen.”

5 Emmys for other Apple TV+ shows

Apple TV+ also scored five Creative Arts Emmy Awards Monday night. Carpool Karaoke: The Series earned the top honor for Outstanding Short Form Comedy, its fifth win in a row.

Best Drama Series nominee Severance made its Emmy debut with two wins, including Outstanding Music Composition for a Series and Outstanding Main Title Design.

Schmigadoon! won Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and dramatic mystery series Home Before Dark landed the previously announced juried award for Outstanding Motion Design.

HBO wins big, too

Another big winner at the Primetime Emmys, hosted by Saturday Night Live‘s Kenan Thompson on NBC, was HBO. It took 11 Emmys, more than any other network or streaming service.

The wins included five for The White Lotus as well as Outstanding Drama Series for Succession. That show also led nominations overall, with 25, topping second-place holders The White Lotus and Ted Lasso, each with 20.

The plaudits keep coming for Apple TV+

Apple Original series, films and documentaries have now been honored with 275 wins and 1,152 award nominations and counting, Apple said. That includes this year’s Best Picture win at the Oscars for CODA, which made Apple TV+ the first streaming service to win that award.

Apple TV+ is available by subscription for $4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial, or via any tier of the Apple One subscription bundle.
