Apple TV+ dropped a trailer Wednesday for season 2 of its sci-fi thriller series Invasion, and it looks like full-scale global war will erupt after season 1’s slow burn led up to frightening first contact.
Season 2 debuts August 23, with new episodes coming out on Wednesdays.
Oh, it’s on: Invasion season 2 trailer brings global war with terrifying aliens
Here’s how Apple TV+ described the ambitious series, which comes from Academy Award-nominated and two-time Emmy Award-nominated producer Simon Kinberg, who serves as showrunner, along with David Weil:
Invasion is a sweeping, character-driven science fiction drama series that follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. The action-packed second season of Invasion picks up just months later with the aliens escalating their attacks in an all-out war against the humans. The trailer gives a suspenseful sneak peek into the new season, as aliens and destruction abound, answers are relentlessly pursued and the fight for the world’s survival continues.
So, yeah, nothing much on the line. Just the “world’s survival.”
The 10-episode second season debuts with its first episode on Wednesday, August 23, followed by one new episode on Wednesdays through October 25, Apple TV+ said.
You can get ready by streaming season 1 on Apple TV+. We won’t spoil it by telling you what happens to beloved Kiwi actor Sam Neall‘s sheriff character. At the end of the first season, Cult of Mac‘s critic said, “As the first season of the Apple TV+ alien combat show ends, it plants clues that leave us itching for season 2.”
