The only reason today’s featured setup isn’t 100% Apple is that Cupertino doesn’t make its own condenser USB microphones, lighting or desks.
Literally everything else in the setup is from Apple, including a computing “hat trick” of desktop Mac, laptop Mac and Apple tablet, plus a second hat trick for peripherals, with an Apple display, Apple input devices and Apple audio.

M2 Pro Mac mini setup is almost all Apple
Redditor magmamadman (“Mag”) showcased the Apple-centric setup is a post entitled, “Here’s my setup.” It features a powerful M2 Pro Mac mini, a MacBook Pro and an iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard Folio.
And, as if that’s not enough Apple, there’s also a Studio Display on an adjustable stand, a Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2, AirPods Pro 2 earbuds and AirPods Max headphones.
We’re describing all that Apple gear as two hat tricks — one for computing devices and one for peripherals. A hat trick is when one hockey or soccer player scores three times in a game. The term is also used in cricket, where one “bowler” takes three “wickets” on successive “balls” (and yes, of course we had to look that up).
Going nuts in the Apple Store
“Looks like you just came into the Apple store and said yes to every upsell,” a commenter said. “Lmao but nice setup anyways.”
“This was years in the making :),” Mag replied.
Another person seemed to look for a reason to add a Mac mini to their laptop-based setup. For many people, it’s an either-or choice and a MacBook does the job for most people.
“I thought about getting a Mac mini but I already have a [MacBook Pro],” they said. “What made you get the mini (just asking)?”
“My late 2012 iMac finally gave up and I missed having a desktop Mac,” Mag replied. And for all those times he needs a third capable computing solution, he’s got the iPad Pro with a keyboard.
Spot the non-Apple gear if you look closely
As mentioned at the top, the setup includes (precious little) gear not made by Apple.
One item is a PreSonus Revelator USB Condenser Microphone suitable for podcasting, streaming, and music and voice recording. It offers three recording patterns for different situations — cardioid for single-source sound, omnidirectional to pick up a whole room and figure-8 for interview situations. It also sports built-in voice effects, including Broadcast, Space Overlord, Android and AM Radio.
Another non-Apple item is the Philips Hue Bloom dimmable tabletop smart light sitting on the desk. It works via a Hue Hub with HomeKit, Alexa or Google Assistant.
Oh, and there’s a simple but effective wooden desk, too, another product manufacturing and sales area Apple has so far avoided.
