Ghosted had the most successful launch of any Apple TV+ film since the debut of the streaming service. Enough viewers tuned in to the action flick starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas to push it near the top of the charts.

And the third — possibly final — season of the comedy Ted Lasso continues to draw plenty of eyes.

Viewers aren’t ghosting Ghosted

It’s possible Netflix and Disney+ don’t consider Apple TV+ serious competition — it has only 6% of the U.S. streaming market, according to the analysts at JustWatch. But Apple nevertheless has been able to make movies and series that pull in audiences.

There’s no better example than Ghosted. The movie and TV search engine Reelgood put the film at the No. 3 spot on its list of the most popular titles on any streaming service during the week of April 20 to April 26.

And JustWatch’s rival streaming search engine put the Apple TV+ film in its No. 3 spot on the list of most-viewed streaming movies during the week of April 17 to April 23. It was beat out only by Cocaine Bear and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The double star power in the latest flick pushed it over the launch of other popular movies on the service. The market-analysis firm Samba TV told Deadline that Ghosted had 328,500 viewers in its first two days. That solidly beat initial viewership for Finch starring Tom Hanks, Spirited starring with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, and the recently released Tetris, all of which did well.

In the new film, Cole (Chris Evans) falls for Sadie (Ana de Armas) before discovering that she’s a CIA agent. The two get caught up in an international adventure to save the world in true action movie style.

Ted Lasso holds on to its audience

The Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso has been a hit since it debuted back in 2020. And that carries on as the third season progresses. JustWatch put the series in the No. 5 spot on its list of most-viewed streaming series last week.

For those who’ve been living under a rock, Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer team, despite being completely unfamiliar with the sport. But what he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with optimism, underdog determination — and biscuits. It’s won more awards than can be easily counted, including won back-to-back Emmys for outstanding comedy.

Watch them today on Apple TV+

Watching either of these comes with a $6.99-per-month subscription to Apple TV+. That’s a lower price than all of its larger rivals. And there are no commercial interruptions.

The streaming service also includes much more, of course. There are dramas, comedies, science fiction, children’s shows, nature documentaries, etc.
