Apple’s Tetris film slots easily into top 10 list

The new Apple TV+ film about sneaking Tetris out of Communist Russia is pulling in plenty of viewers. It was actually more popular than Ted Lasso last week, according to one TV ratings company — though that Apple comedy is very popular, too.

And Shinking continues its long run in the top 10 most popular streaming shows, possibly because it’s now possible to binge the entire first season.

Tetris on Apple TV+ fits into a good spot

Apple TV+ isn’t a juggernaut of streaming like Netflix or Disney+, but it produces enough hits to stay competitive. And it’s doing especially well now, with a film and two series that are more popular than almost everything else available.

That includes Tetris, a thriller about how the hugely popular game was brought out of the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The movie and TV search engine Reelgood put the film at the No. 7 spot on its list of the most popular titles on any streaming service during the week of March 30 to April 5.

And rival streaming search engine JustWatch put the series in the No. 8 spot on its list of most-viewed streaming movies during the week of March 27 through April 2.

Both critics and audiences like it. The review-aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes gave Tetris an 81% approval rating, and the audience score is 89%.

Ted Lasso is popular, of course

Ted Lasso is the standout hit on Apple TV+, and the new third season is as popular as the preceding ones.

JustWatch put the series in the No. 4 spot on its list of most-viewed streaming series during the week of March 27 through April 2. It’s at No. 8 on ReelGood’s list of everything (films and series) streaming last week.

For those who’ve been living under a rock, Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer team, despite being completely unfamiliar with the sport. But what he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with optimism, underdog determination — and biscuits. It’s won more awards than can be easily counted, including won back-to-back Emmys for outstanding comedy.

Shinking‘s appeal hasn’t shrunk

The first season of Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking jumped to near the top of the streaming charts after its January debut, and stayed there even since even though the season finale aired March 24.

JustWatch has it in the No. 9 spot of most-popular streaming series during the week of March 27 through April 2.

The series, which stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, is about a psychotherapist who throws out the rulebook and tells his clients what he really thinks they should do.

Watch them today on Apple TV+

Watching any of these comes with a $6.99-per-month subscription to Apple TV+. That’s a lower price than all of its larger rivals. And there are no commercial interruptions.

The streaming service also includes much more, of course. There are dramas, comedies, science fiction, children’s shows, nature documentaries, etc.
