We enjoy seeing computer setups grow and change. We last looked at today’s featured setup when its user described it as “temporary” back in June. Since then it has metastasized into a monstrous beast with a maxed-out Mac Pro, a 16-inch M1 Max MacBook Pro, a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, iPad mini and dual Pro Display XDRs.

And the custom-made desk with lights against a dramatic backdrop of 3D wall panels really enhances the setup, too.

That’s one stunning Apple setup

Apple reseller, gear reviewer and Redditor MzeRS (“RS”) showcased the Apple-riffic setup in a post entitled, “I like my Apple’s the way I like my games; Colourful.” We last covered a temporary version of his setup in June. It was fabulous for a temporary rig, and now it’s just stunning.

Since then he moved the show to a new location with a custom-made Ikea desk with some clever lighting in and behind it. It appears to be two desktops separated by posts to allow a rope light to wrap-around without protruding much. Instead of legs, the desk uses Ikea Alex drawer units.

The desk sits against the dramatic backdrop of 3D wall panels. RS said he got them on Amazon. You can find them and all the gear at the links below.

‘Maxed-out’ Mac Pro

This setup is more robust than the temporary one, which had the “maxed-out” Mac Pro. That probably means it has a 28-core processor, 1.5TB RAM, 8TB SSD storage and the most-advanced graphics modules (all upping the price stratospherically).

RS added an iPad mini, a Satechi folding stand for his 12.9-inch iPad Pro, a vertical stand for his 16-inch M1 Max MacBook Pro, AirPods Max on a Benks stand and two Pro Display XDRs to replace the single 28-inch Huawei MateView 4K display he was using before.

“I feel if this was mine I would never get any work done, and rather just keep leaning back in a silent and smug admiration for the beauty I have created. Also Eevee 10/10,” said an admiring commenter.

“Yeah, at times I just like to sit back with my coffee, relax and let the music play while staring at my setup for half an hour until I get back to work!” RS replied.

‘How many computers do you need?!’

“Cool setup but I have a genuine question, how many computers do you need?!” asked a commenter, after checking off the four major pieces of Apple hardware on display.

“As much as I can fit on my desk! 😂” RS replied.

Someone else asked how he uses the iPads in the setup.

“The iPad mini is mostly used for web browsing while I’m using both of my monitors for work and the 12.9[-inch iPad Pro] is to watch all of my shows and movies,” RS said.
