The gadget sports a new look and improved mechanics for better durability, the company said.

Redesigned Eve Aqua sensor for HomeKit gains new look and better durability

Smart home accessory maker Eve Systems is out with its latest product after the recent release of the second-generation Eve Motion sensor.

Now HomeKit users can get the new Eve Aqua, with a refreshed design, better durability and continued support for the Thread networking standard that will figure into the upcoming Matter home automation tech standard.

“Eve Aqua looks gorgeous and makes smart gardening easy, safe and joyful,” says Jerome Gackel, CEO of Eve Systems. “Thread eliminates the need for a digital bridge, while the brass faucet adapter ensures a rock-solid physical connection.”

“And of course, our beautiful Eve app brings it all together, making scheduling and monitoring consumption a breeze,” he added.

Many ways to control it

The water controller can automatically activate an irrigation system using the Home app on the iPhone, the Eve app, Siri voice commands or a physical button on the device itself.

The new Eve Aqua, which has an IPX4 water resistance rating, takes power from two AA batteries. On its now-more-slender- and-space gray body with a matte-black front you’ll find a bigger watering button than before, for easy operation.

It requires no bridge other than your existing Home Hub, like an Apple TV or a HomePod mini. You can use the Aqua to schedule up to seven daily watering sessions.

More durable

Eve upgraded the inside of the gadget with a brass faucet connector and magnetic valve for increased durability, fewer leaks and near-silent operation.

Like its predecessor, the new model can connect via Bluetooth or Thread. It’s the 14th product Eve has released with support for Thread.

When the Matter standard comes out — probably this fall — Eve Aqua (third-generation) will be updated for free to support it and work with all smart home platforms, Eve Systems said.

The new Eve Aqua is available now at Eve Systems and should go on sale at Apple and Amazon soon.

Price: $149.95
