Money may be the root of all evil, but sometimes it sprouts plenty of comedy, too. Apple TV+ debuted a new trailer Friday for Loot, a new comedy series starring Saturday Night Live alum Maya Rudolph that may prove that point.

And who doesn’t like to laugh at the ultra-wealthy, anyway? See the trailer below.

Apple TV+ Loot trailer soaks the rich in comedy

In Loot, billionaire Molly Novak (Rudolph) has a dream life, complete with private jets, a sprawling mansion and a gigayacht. She gets anything her heart desires, basically. But when her husband of 20 years betrays her, she spirals publicly, becoming fuel for tabloid fodder.

As she reaches rock bottom she learns, to her surprise, that she has a charity foundation. It’s run by the no-nonsense Sofia Salinas (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez), who pleads with Novak to stop generating bad press.

With her devoted assistant Nicholas (Kim Booster) by her side and help from Salinas and team, Novak embarks on a journey of self-discovery. The group, including mild-mannered accountant Arthur (Nat Faxon) and her optimistic, pop-culture-loving cousin Howard (Ron Funches), helps Novak learn that giving back to others might be what she needs to get back to herself.

Loot is created, written and executive produced by Emmy Award winners Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard. Rudolph executive produces, along with Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens, through Animal Pictures. Dave Becky of 3 Arts also serves as executive producer. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, produces the series for Apple.

The project marks the second collaboration between Apple TV+ and Yang following the award-winning anthology series Little America.

Loot premieres Friday, June 24 on Apple TV+ with three episodes. Subsequent episodes will come out each Friday.

Apple TV+ is available by subscription for $4.99 a month with a seven-day free trial.
