The Samsung T7 Shield is a a credit-card size external SSD intended for outdoor content creators or travelers. It’s drop, water and dust resistant, and offers up to 2TB of capacity.
This new rugged version joins other SSDs in the Samsung T7 line.
Samsung T7 Shield SSD can take punishment
“The T7 Shield is ideal for creative professionals and consumers who want a durable, high-performance and reliable portable SSD. It provides the assurance that data will remain safeguarded, even if it’s dropped, exposed to water, or used outdoors,” said Jim Kiczek, VP of Memory Marketing at Samsung Electronics America.
The external drive can survive drops of up to 9.8 feet (3 meters), and it is IP65-certified as dustproof and water resistant. Despite the rugged design, the peripheral is pocket size, and it weighs 3.5 ounces (98 grams).
The Samsung T7 Shield is compatible with Mac and most iPads – any computer with a USB-C port. It also works with PC, Android and many game consoles. It comes bundled with a USB Type-C-to-C cable and a USB Type-C-to-A cable.
Today is launch day for this Samsung 2TB SSD
Samsung’s latest portable SSD is now available worldwide. It’s $159.99 for a 1TB version and $289.99 for the 2TB one.
Other options in this product line include the standard Samsung T7 as well as the T7 Touch, a version with a built-in fingerprint sensor.
