Two Avengers stars are making a movie for Apple TV+. Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans — perhaps best known as Black Widow and Captain America — are working on a mysterious Project Artemis.

The news started out as a leak, but Evans has since confirmed it.

The two stars will not be reuniting to play superheroes again, though little is known about the film. According to Deadline, who first broke the Project Artemis news, “Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps but we hear the project is set against the space race.” The screenplay is from Rose Gilroy.

Apple reportedly paid a huge sum to secure the rights. It put down $100 million to bring the project to Apple TV+.

The big draw is Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans, two of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Having Jason Bateman on board to direct certainly doesn’t hurt.

Evans has worked with Apple before, staring in 2020’s Defending Jacob. And Johansson is coming to the streaming service as the star of Bride, an upcoming modern take on Bride of Frankenstein.

It was Evans who confirmed the details of Project Artemis, replying to a tweet from Deadline about the upcoming film with, “Very excited!!!”

This early in the project, there’s no way to know when the film will appear on Apple TV+. When it does, watching will come with a $4.99-per-month subscription to Apple’s streaming service.
