Scarlett Johansson reportedly will take the lead in an Apple TV+ film. Bride will be about a creation designed to be the perfect wife. And what happens when she rejects the role.

Oscar-winner Sebastián Lelio will direct the film.

Not a dream wedding in Bride on Apple TV+

Details on Bride were leaked to Deadline:

“The plot follows a woman created to be an ideal wife — the singular obsession of a brilliant entrepreneur. When she rejects her creator, she’s forced to flee her confined existence, confronting a world that sees her as a monster. It is on the run that she finds her true identity, her surprising power, and the strength to remake herself as her own creation.”

Bride will hardly be Johansson‘s first foray into sci-fi. Not only did she appear as Black Window in multiple Marvel movies, she was the voice of the AI in Her.

Lelio is best known for directing A Fantastic Woman, which took home the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2018 Academy Awards. In addition to directing, Lelio is also writing this film with Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.

There’s no word on when Bride will debut on Apple TV+.

Apple brings in big stars

The movie is part of partnership between Apple and A24. Their teamup will bring On the Rocks staring Bill Murray and Rashida Jones to Apple TV+ on Friday. Previously, it was announced the two companies would work together on Sharper starring Academy Award winner Julianne Moore.

And these are far from the only major names on the streaming service. Stars like Stephen Spielberg, Chris Evans, and Jennifer Aniston already have series. Tom Hanks’ Greyhound was a hit this summer. There are many more.
