An India-based blog posted a series of renders on Wednesday it said are based on leaked factory CAD images of the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro. They support leaks and rumors indicating that a hole-punch design will replace the notch, among other changes.
Leaked iPhone 14 Pro images: hole punch instead of notch and more
The blog, 91mobiles, posted images picturing more than just the hole punch in place of a notch. They show the new iPhone 14 Pro handset’s entire design.
And the front, at least, will be new, the blog indicated. It described a “premium look” with symmetrical bezels.
The renders show an absence of the much-criticized notch at the top of the screen, long expected to eventually go away. Instead, it’s replaced by “a pill-shaped cutout on the display and a smaller circular cutout to accommodate the Face ID sensors and selfie camera.”

Camera bump and other details retained
Even though a rumor spread by Jon Prosser recently said upcoming iPhones would lose the prominent camera bump where three lenses and multiple sensors reside. Instead, a thicker chassis would leave the lenses flush with the back of the iPhone. But these renders show a bump similar to that of current iPhones, if not larger.
In addition, Prosser’s sources claimed the new models will have round volume buttons and redesigned speaker and microphone grilles. But these CAD renders show the same oblong buttons and grilles iPhone owners know from current models.

And though sources have said Apple is developing periscope lenses that might make for a slimmer iPhone design, it doesn’t figure into the “iPhone 14 Pro” renders. Some predictions put the periscope update in 2023, not 2022.
But a 48-megapixel sensor could come this year with iPhone 14, some sources say. It will allow 8K video recording and improved augmented reality experiences. It most likely will reside only in the top two “Pro” iPhone 14 models.
Similarly, despite rumors that the upcoming iPhone 14 will have only eSIM, these CAD-related renders show a regular SIM tray.

Different models, different features?
And the blog said its source reports the iPhone 14 Pro will retain the current model’s 6.1-inch display.
Many expect Apple to release four iPhone 14 series models this year, including two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch sizes, with no “mini” variant a la the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series. The hole-punch and pill-shaped cutouts may only appear on the highest-end iPhone 14 variants, while the two lower-end iPhone 14 models may retain the notch. The 91mobiles blog agrees with on that point.

Previously, 91mobiles has correctly reported on both iPhone 13 Pro and iPad leaks.
Separately, reports have indicated the new iPhone 14’s “Pro” models will get an Apple A16 processor, while lower-cost models will stick with the A15 chipset. That’s interesting because Apple hasn’t used a previous-ten processor in a new flagship iPhone model since the original iPhone and iPhone 3G, which used 412 MHz ARM 11 chips.
