Apple added two new green finishes to its iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro lineups Tuesday to generate a colorful midseason jolt of excitement.
“Today we’re introducing two gorgeous new finishes,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook during the streamed “Peek Performance” event. “iPhone 13 looks stunning in this bold new green with its precision-milled back glass and color-matched aluminum edges. And iPhone 13 Pro in a sophisticated new alpine green joins the most Pro lineup we’ve ever created.”
Green iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro
Green is always a welcome addition Apple’s mostly muted iPhone color palette. The company released a lime green iPhone 5c in 2013, along with a minty green iPhone 11 and a Midnight Green iPhone 11 Pro in 2019.
Color aside, the new models are apparently exactly the same as their siblings. The new “regular” green iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini join the current lineup colors of Midnight, Starlight, pink, blue and (Product) Red.
The alpine green iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max join the silver, gold, graphite and underwhelming sierra blue colors currently available.

iPhone dominates global sales
Various iPhone models dominate the charts when it comes to global smartphone sales. Apple makes seven out of 10 models on Counterpoint Research’s list of best-selling smartphones, released Tuesday. iPhone 13 currently holds down the No. 3 spot, behind iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max. iPhone 13 Pro Max comes in at No. 9. Neither the iPhone 13 Pro nor the iPhone 13 mini made the top 10.
Apple pulled the same sort of color-centric stunt last year, unleashing purple versions of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini at its April 20 “Spring Loaded” event. Adding the Pro models to the mix is a welcome addition.
Preorders for the new green iPhone 13 models start Friday, Apple said. They will be available on March 18.
