In a new ad, Mad Men star Jon Hamm scrolls through the movies and shows on Apple TV+ and notes a conspicuous lack of Jon Hamm.
“Hey Apple, did I do something to offend you?” the actor asks.
Everyone but Jon Hamm includes no one but Jon Hamm
The ad, which you can watch below, is a joke, of course. But it lets Apple humblebrag about the astounding number of stars on its streaming service.
Hamm points out in the video that Apple TV+ movies and series starring Samuel L. Jackson, Billie Eilish, Tom Holland, Chris Evans, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Mahershala Ali, Octavia Spencer, Paul Rudd, Will Ferrell and Jon Stewart.
He seems especially incensed that Snoopy has his own show on Apple’s service while he, himself, does not.
Obviously, Apple TV+ puts a lot of emphasis on star power. And that doesn’t come cheap. It will reportedly spend about $8 billion on content in 2022, and $14 billion in 2025.
More Apple TV+ stars
In reality, Apple’s streaming video service features even more big names that the Everyone but Jon Hamm spot didn’t have room for, including Oprah Winfrey, Justin Timberlake, Jane Lynch, Bill Murray, Dave Bautista, Anthony Mackie and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Plus, upcoming Apple TV+ shows and movies will star Uma Thurman, Jared Leto, Anne Hathaway, Tiffany Haddish and more. And that’s just the people in front of the camera.
The Everyone but Jon Hamm ad will air during the NFL playoffs this weekend, according to Adweek.
