Eve Systems had two HomeKit-related news items at CES 2022 in Las Vegas on Monday, rolling out an all-new Eve Outdoor Cam for an early April launch and saying its Thread-connected smart blinds — MotionBlinds — are now widely available.

Eve Outdoor Cam

Eve called its new camera the first floodlight cam designed exclusively for Apple HomeKit. As such, the Eve Outdoor Cam aims to help keep your home secure.

The Eve Outdoor Cam is scheduled to launch on April 5, 2022, priced at $249.95 from Eve, Amazon and later from Apple.

The camera has a 157-degree field of view. It supports infrared night vision and IP55 certification. Its infrared motion detection triggers recordings and the integrated floodlight.

Works exclusively with HomeKit

Designed to work exclusively with HomeKit, the cam supports numerous HomeKit features. It takes advantage of HomeKit Secure Video recording and can keep a 10-day history of recording. It can provide smart notifications based on subject detection. The cam also features two-way communication with the integrated microphone and speaker.

In line with HomeKit limitations, video capture maxes out at 1080p at 24 frames per second.

“Combining elegant aesthetics with technology designed to safeguard privacy, Eve Outdoor Cam goes beyond legacy surveillance camera concepts with their conspicuous looks and manufacturer clouds”, said Eve Systems CEO Jerome Gackel. “Eve Outdoor Cam embodies what Eve stands for: beautiful, connected home products that set the standard for privacy-first smart homes.”

Eve also mentioned MotionBlinds smart blinds, the result of a collaboration between Eve and window covering specialist Coulisse, are now available to order from resellers all over the world.

Eve said they are the first Thread-connected blinds for HomeKit. They’re designed for easy and quick installation, requiring no gateway or bridge device.

You can order Eve MotionBlinds from SelectBlinds.com in the US, abcblinds.com.au in Australia, SmartBlinds.com in the EU and also from OmniaBlinds.com and Sonevo.de. You can find resellers here.

“When adding window coverings to your connected home, making a future-proof choice is key,” said Gackel. “As Thread-enabled accessories, Eve MotionBlinds can support Matter, the smart home standard of the future that is currently being developed by Google, Amazon, Apple and numerous loT manufacturers.”
