The eerie sci-fi thriller Severance will follow a group of employees who’ve had their work memories surgically severed from their personal ones. It’s a creepy idea, especially as it’s something Apple might consider whenever its top-secret product details leak out.

A teaser trailer for the upcoming Apple TV+ drama series starts the weirdness off.

Severance portrays a frightening workplace future

In Severance, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team of employees who’ve undergone a severance procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Scout finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.

Ben Stiller serves as both executive producer and director. The creator and writer of Severance is Dan Erickson.

Patricia Arquette will star, as will Oscar winner Christopher Walken. Other stars include Emmy winner John Turturro (The Plot Against America, The Night Of), Britt Lower (High Maintenance, Casual), Zach Cherry (You, Succession), Dichen Lachman (Jurassic World: Dominion, Altered Carbon), Jen Tullock (Before You Know It, Bless This Mess), Tramell Tillman (Hunters, Dietland) and Michael Chernus (Orange is the New Black, Patriot)

Severance will launch globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on February 18, 2022, followed by new weekly installments each Friday during its nine-episode season.

In the mean time, other creepy offerings on Apple’s streaming service include Stephen King’s Lisey’s Story, Servant and Calls. Watching any of them requires a $4.99-per-month subscription.
