Getting a little bored of your iPhone XR’s aging form factor? Make it look like an iPhone 13 and add MagSafe support with this $39.50 mod kit.
The kit includes a complete chassis and tools, so all you have to do is transfer the screen and internal components from your existing iPhone. The video below walks you through the process — and shows the impressive final result.
Affordable mod kit gives iPhone XR a design upgrade
Let’s face it, iPhone XR remains a perfectly capable smartphone, so there’s no real need to shell out for an upgrade for the majority of users. It’s fast, packs a great display, and offers features like Face ID and wireless charging.
However, Apple’s lower-cost smartphone, which first made its debut in 2018, is looking a little long in the tooth now. So if you’ve been holding onto one for a while, you’re probably getting a little bored of looking at the same design.
This $39 mod kit, manufactured without Apple’s approval (obviously) in China, makes it relatively easy to turn your iPhone XR into an iPhone 13 lookalike — complete with MagSafe for charging and connecting accessories.
Turn your iPhone XR into an iPhone 13
The kit includes an aluminum chassis, which is near identical to iPhone 13’s, including the glass and a copyright-infringing Apple logo. It also ships with all the tools you need to transfer the components from your iPhone XR.
The end result doesn’t look exactly like the real thing, of course. iPhone 13 isn’t available in a 6.1-inch version like iPhone XR, and its front glass is flat, whereas iPhone XR’s has a slight curve around the edges.
Nevertheless, it’s pretty darn impressive, especially when you consider it costs less than $40, and adds MagSafe support. Here’s a video that shows off the kit — and walks you through the process of installing it.
You can order the kit yourself from Fanscreate for $39.50 — plus the price of shipping.
