The first full trailer for Foundation shows that no expense was spared making the sci-fi epic. The gorgeous Apple TV+ series premieres in September and it’s clearly going to be action-packed eye candy.

Watch the explosion-filled trailer now:

Foundation makes Isaac Asimov’s vision larger than life

The original Foundation sci-fi novels from the 1940s and 1950s were highly acclaimed and groundbreaking, influencing Star Wars and other series. They tell the story of a band of exiles struggling to save humanity during and after the fall of a Galactic Empire.

This is the very first screen adaptation of the novels. The trailer released Thursday shows the Apple TV+ adaptation will be considerably more action packed than the books, which mostly involve people talking about huge epic events that happened somewhere else.

David S. Goyer is writer and the showrunner for the TV series. His previous writing credits include Dark City, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and many TV series.

Jared Harris will play Hari Seldon, a mathematical genius and head of the Foundation who predicts the fall of the Galactic Empire but creates a way to shorten the millennia of chaos that is sure to follow it. Lee Pace will portray the Emperor of the Galaxy.

Coming soon to Apple TV+

Foundation might be the most-anticipated Apple TV+ show yet. And the wait will be over on Friday, September 24, 2021.

The plan is to make this into a multi-season series. But watching it requires a $4.99 subscription to Apple’s streaming video service. But there is more sci-fi included, like the alternate-history drama For All Mankind, the upcoming season two of the post-apocalyptic drama See and Stephen Spielberg’s Amazing Stories.
